This past Saturday, December 15 was National Wreaths Across America (WAA) Day. Bridges is honored to support the event as an annual sponsor at two cemeteries by donating to purchase wreaths and providing volunteers to lay wreaths. Across the country in all 50 states, at sea, and abroad, WAA works to “REMEMBER our fallen U.S. veterans, HONOR those who serve, and TEACH children the value of freedom” with annual, coordinated wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,100 additional locations.
Bridges volunteers helped to place wreaths on 1,800 graves at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD and 4,000 graves in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE. It was a rainy day, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm for all Bridges’ volunteers who participated and honored our heroes. All were glad and touched to be with Pat Freer to honor her husband Larry.
Many thanks to Nikki Jones and Diana Gresham for their leadership in coordinating this meaningful effort and to all the Bridges volunteers for helping to make a positive impact in the community.
